    Outdoor Shakespeare - The Tempest
    Fri 14th Jun 2024 19:00
    Lampeter House, near Narberth
With a hope for a sunny evening, this year SPAN’s popular annual outdoor Shakespeare production will take place on Friday the 14th of June. Join SPAN and the Festival Players for a rousing production of The Tempest.
Shakespeare’s last, and great, play is a triumphant compilation of intrigue, magic, and humour. Prospero, an exiled Duke with supernatural powers, creates a great storm which sees his enemies shipwrecked on his island. Magic abounds, plots are exposed, and a colourful array of characters gain their deserts. Fascinating entertainment.

  • Haverfordwest Lantern Parade 2024
Haverfordwest Lantern Parade returns to Haverfordwest!
SPAN Arts is excited to announce the return of the hugely popular Haverfordwest Lantern Parade in 2024.    Supported by the UK Government and powered by Levelling Up Fund funding, the Lantern Parade this November will bring the community together to celebrate Haverfordwest and Pembrokeshire.    Over the next few months SPAN Arts will put a call out to Creatives to put forward their ideas for the Parade and the giant puppets which be the centre point of the festival.   The shortlist of these ideas will then go to a public vote, where the community get to choose the festival of their dreams.   “SPAN aims to be artist-led and community-focused. The public vote will give the community the power to shape their own parade”.  Bethan Touhig Gamble, SPAN Arts Director   There will be free public lantern-making workshops in the run-up to the parade and lots of opportunities for people to get involved. Is Oilithreach Mé
    I am a pilgrim
Sounding the way back through story and song
Pererin Wyf / Is Oilithreach Mé / I am a pilgrim is a participatory arts project which sought to connect with the Welsh and Irish diaspora with particular reference to a new cross-border pilgrimage connecting Pembrokeshire and Wexford.  The project took its title and inspiration from an 18th century hymn by the prolific Welsh writer William Williams Pantycelyn. The hymn has been sung to the tune of Amazing Grace since Welsh singer Iris Williams made her landmark recording in 1971. This project culminated in May 2023 with an online documentary film screening and song sharing followed by a short live streamed concert at St Davids Cathedral.
