Young People and Families Urgently Needed to Support SPAN Arts
SPAN Arts is sending out a heartfelt call for more young people and families to join its volunteer team, as the organisation faces a shortage at a time when its events programme is growing faster than ever.
For more than 30 years, SPAN Arts has brought communities together through creativity—using the arts to spark ideas, build connections, and inspire positive change. Like many community organisations, it relies on volunteers to make this work possible. Right now, that support is needed more than ever.
A Genuine Call for Support
“Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation, and at the moment we’re low on numbers,” the team explains. “With more events coming up, we really need more people to step in, especially young people and families.”
This is an open, honest invitation to be part of something meaningful—whether you can spare an hour or want to get more deeply involved.
Why It Matters — and What You’ll Gain
Volunteering with SPAN Arts isn’t just about giving your time. It’s about joining a creative, welcoming community and gaining valuable experiences along the way.
Volunteers often say they:
- Meet new people and feel part of a supportive community
- Build confidence and learn new skills
- Strengthen their CV with real, hands-on experience
- Get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative industries
From working with professional artists to learning about marketing, lighting, sound, and event production, there are plenty of opportunities to explore different areas of the arts.
A Great Opportunity for Young People
For young people, volunteering can be a brilliant first step into something new. You’ll have the chance to:
- Join a friendly, supportive team
- Learn practical skills that go beyond the classroom
- Gain experience in live events and the arts sector
- Grow in confidence while trying something different
Volunteering as a Family
Families are warmly encouraged to get involved too. With workshops and performances designed for young audiences, SPAN Arts offers a natural, enjoyable setting for families to volunteer together.
It’s a chance to:
- Spend quality time together in a creative environment
- Help children build confidence and teamwork skills
- Share new experiences and meet others in the community
- Do something meaningful as a family

Your Time Could Make the Difference

And along the way, you might just discover something new for yourself too.
Support Arts for Social Change with a one-off donation!
YOUR in person donations add up to enough to fund half of a Love Stories to Nature environmental commission. This provides a local artist fair pay to develop an environmental arts project inspired by your glorious Pembrokeshire.
We really appreciate every donation made as it helps us achieve more for the whole of our community. Whatever you can give today, will help us do a whole lot!
