Join SPAN in making beautiful, recycled planters to fill Narberth with glorious colour. SPAN has received funding from the ‘Doing Small Things Fund’ to run a community planter project for the local community to take ownership of their town. Join forces creatively to make a difference to the town and fill Narberth with the vibrant, colourful plants that reflect our glowing community. These planters will not only look beautiful all year around but will be filled with edible plants available to all, housed in skilfully made, reclaimed wood planters.
Through workshops led by our master community facilitators, we will propagate, build, nurture and install our planters across Narberth, where local community hubs investing in the project will display them with pride outside their buildings.
We invite you to join us for our planter building, held in August and September at the SPAN Arts building, where we will construct the planters in hands-on workshops led by a skilled community woodwork facilitator. The hands on workshop will see you transform pallets into stunning planters made from the reclaimed wood. These spectacular builds will then be ready to install and plant in situe outside their proud local businesses. From pubs and shops, to the museum, community swimming pool, care home and school your planters will bejewel the town for all to enjoy.
The four workshops will be held in the SPAN Arts building, on the 1, 3 29 of August and the 1 of September. We welcome anyone over the age of 10 to join us, with under 16’s to be accompanied by an adult. Book your FREE workshop now at span-arts.org.uk or call 10834869323. Be sure to book as spaces are limited.

These planters were created by the people of Narberth in a collective effort to improve our local environment and bring people together. There has been a total of 21 planters placed at 9 shops around Narberth.
The skills learned by members of the community who attended will be taken forward to pass on to other communities locally including Students and parents of Haverfordwest on their community Garden proposal, the Haverhub drop-in sessions, Scolton Mannor’s men’s woodwork centre, Saundersfoot in Bloom and the Narberth allotment community. The project has created a new role for people to look after the planters on a voluntary basis to help keep Narberth looking beautiful.
